In the name of God Amen I Samuel G Turner of Southampton county and parish of Saint Luke s being in sound mind and memory to make and ordain this my Last will and testament in manner and from following, first and principally I bequeath my soul to Almighty God who gave it me and for my worldly goods which I possess I dispose of them as follows- Item 1: I give and bequeath to my Loving wife Elizabeth Turner the following property namely two negroes Ephraim and Jordan and horse called Sedler also one Gray horse ????? cows and calves of here choice for sow and & twenty Pigs fifteen hundred pounds Pork fifty Barrels corn five stacks of blade fodder the whole of my kitchen and Dairy furniture her Spinning Wheel all my sitting chairs one chest of drawers one pine chest three [illegible] one ladies saddle one pine table one bed and furniture one ?egg and harness six head of sheep if her choice one pair washing pans all my slays and harness all my guns and ???? five hundred to seed cotton Two flower carpets ??????? and ???? and Tea Kettle and brass kettle all me earthen and china ware and tea Board one dripping glass with draw 1 pr flat irons two axes three weeding hoes plow hoes one pair cart wheels and cart to her and her heirs forever Item 2nd: I lend to my loving wife Elizabeth Turner my kindred plantation containing these hundred and sixty three acres also three negroes named Nancy Milly & Myrick during her natural life Item 3: I give and bequeath to my daughter-in-law L Rebecca Jane Williamson one bed and furniture one walnut table to her and her heirs forever but wish and direct that my wife should keep the [illegible] named property in her possession until the said Rebecca Jane Williamson marries or arrives to Lawful age Item 4: I give and bequeath unto my loving daughter Polly Turner one bed and furniture one walnut table one walnut ???????? the same to stand in my house as they are until she arrives of age or marries to her and her heirs forever Item 5: It is my will and desire that my negroes Tom and Bridget may remain on the land on that they now are. Item 6: I give and bequeath to John C Turner my part of the dower land now in the possession of Elizabeth Prince upon the express provision If he makes himself satisfied with the Guardian amount to him and his heirs forever. Item 7 Now it is my will that if my Daughter Polly C Turner departs this life under age of eighteen years or without marriage that my estate be equally divided in the children of John C Turner and the whole of the children of Nancy Spencer her Barrett children included and also the children of Susan Barrett who was formerly Susan Turner to those and those heirs forever Lastly I do nominate and appoint my friend Laurence Cook and John Spencer my whole and sole executors to this my Last will and Testament voiding all others before made Witness my hand and seal this 9th day of January 1822 signed sealed and acknowledged in presence of John E Barnes Saml G Turner (seal) Nathaniel Newsom At a Court held for the County of Southampton the 18 March 1822 This Will was Presented in Court by John Spencer and Lawrence Cook the executors therein named Proved by the oaths of John E Barnes and Nathaniel Newsom the the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of the said executor Laurence Cook and John Spencer ?????????? who made oath according to law Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probat thereof in due form giving Bond and Security Whereupon the said John E Barnes and Nathaniel Newsom together with Henry Porter John C Turner & Peter Edwards them Securities entered into and acknowledged Bond unto ?????? if ?????
